HANDLE

HANDLE® Screening

The HANDLE Screening is a brief 30 – 45 minute ‘check’ of neurodevelopmental systems that may be affected. After the screening is administered, parents take a break with their child and come back for a presentation of the results and demonstration of the activity program.

Screening is not appropriate for children younger than 5 years of age, or individuals who do not have functional language. Younger children and individuals of any age with more significant challenges (including diagnosed developmental disorders or severe ‘behavior’ problems) may be a good candidate for a full evaluation.

HANDLE® Evaluation

A limited number of HANDLE evaluations may be available with direct supervision provided by The HANDLE Institute. A HANDLE evaluation typically consists of a one-day assessment and presentation of results followed by an Activity Check 3-4 days later. Ongoing monthly Program Reviews are provided for a six-month period to adjust activities and monitor progress. HANDLE® Autism Coaching

HANDLE® Autism Coaching provides parents of individuals on the Autism Spectrum with an abbreviated program based on the activities described in Judith Bluestone's book, The Fabric of Autism: Weaving the Threads into a Cogent Theory. Each 3-hour coaching session includes:
  • Introduction to the HANDLE® philosophy as a Holistic Approach to Neuro-Development and Learning Efficiency
  • Instruction in activities with suggestions for modifications to suit your child's individual needs
  • Explanation of the concept of Gentle Enhancement™, which relates to identifying state changes in your child which indicate excessive stress on the nervous system
  • Discussion of the supportive role of nutrition and detoxification to promote optimal neurological functioning
  • All materials needed for your child's program, including the book The Fabric of Autism
  • A personalized DVD of your session with explanation and activity instruction for review at home
  • An Activity Check one week after your initial appointment
